Martin Van Buren National Historic Site

This site’s park grounds are open year-round from 7:00 a.m. to sunset free of charge. Visitor facilities and guided tours of the president's home are available on a seasonal basis. The park's visitor center is located across Old Post Road from the visitor parking lot and is open seasonally. Check in there first to learn about programs and sign up for tours of the Lindenwald mansion. There are no fees to enter Martin Van Buren National Historic Site or to tour President Van Buren's home. Visitors must, however, register for a tour of the house by stopping at the visitor center. Leashed dogs are permitted on the property at the Martin Van Buren National Historic Site as well as the trails at the Martin Van Buren Nature Area. However, dogs are not allowed on the Kinderhook Dutch Farming Heritage Trail. Owners must properly dispose of pet waste and control pet behavior. The Dutch Farming Heritage Trail is located along the boundary of an active private farm. Please stay on the designated trail, and do not climb over any fences, cross through any gates, or enter any farm buildings. If you see farmers at work while on the trail, please keep a respectful distance.
